Expensive scent

November 3rd, 2005  |  Published in Clothes, Shopping

Lynx bespoke
Check this out! It’s not some fancy chemical that makes you attractive to ladies you fancy (although if anyone knows of stuff like that which works, give me a shout.)

I first heard about it through Product dose - it’s a new ‘product’ from Lynx and designer online retailer oki-ni. Basically you spend £100, and get a meeting with a Lynx ‘perfumer’ who will take note of your personality, needs etc. and then a month later, you get your own bespoke scent. It all comes in the flash packaging above. I’m on the oki-ni mailing list, and got an e-mail about it today, so it’s available from now.

I’m not a big fan of Lynx deoderant, but I think this is a pretty neat idea, and a sign of things becoming ever more personalised, which I’m a big fan of. The only thing I would say is how can they do it for £100? The packaging looks expensive, and was presumably not really mass-produced, and what about the staff time it takes to make your fragrance? Or is it all a con and every bottle smells the same?!!

You can read the original Product Dose article here.
