Cheerio Grampian TV

June 1st, 2006  |  Published in Film / TV, Scotland

Grampian

Well on Tuesday this week, the local ITV station I grew up watching disappeared. Grampian TV was taken over by Scottish Television a good couple of years ago, but yesterday saw the launch of a new combined STV covering the whole of Scotland which means Grampian has gone for good.

Grampian always had a bit of an unfair job to do as it covered the largest area of any ITV region, yet it broadcast to one of the smallest populations covered by an ITV station. It’s programmes were often terrible, but I do feel a bit nostalgic about it now it’s gone!

I hate the new identity though - as seen on the STV site. It reminds me very much of S Club 7’s logo from years ago.
