Your online karaoke machine

I’m going to a Singstar party in two weeks (where I will thrash everyone with my rendition of Hoobastank’s The Reason) but if you don’t have a PS2, you can get in on the singing act as well thanks to a new online karaoke site called Singshot.
It’s basically a site where you can record yourself singing along to a backing track (while the words appear on the screen in typical karaoke fashion), then the track is mixed with your voice and made available for people to listen to and rate. If you’re bored at work there are some howlers on there to check out.
Unfortunately whilst you can listen for free, to record a track, you have to start paying after a 2 week free trial. Still if you’re a budding singer, I guess you might find it’s worth it!

One of my comments was that access for free was pretty limited, in that while listening to others’ efforts was free, actually recording tracks required a subscription after an initial two weeks. No more apparently! Someone from Singshot e-mailed me today to say that the service is now completely free - so if you’re a budding singer, get over there and start exercising those vocal chords!
