I am off to Islay… in a couple of months

Scotland! I love it, but I guess that’s because I’m from there. Anyway, later this year, I’ll get to visit a part of Scotland I’ve never been to before - the Western Isles - when I head off to Islay, pictured above.
My mate Nick’s soon-to-be-wife is from there, and we’re heading there in July for his stag weekend. I’m really looking forward to it - apparently the village disco is something to behold - with bottles of vodka and polystyrene cups left on the bar so you can help yourself (I’m sure that’s not true, but I’ll be able to report on it when I go!). It’ll be really nice to visit somewhere completely different and remote.
I’m also hoping to get some great photos with the new camera I’m going to buy this month!

Actually, what’s on the picture is mostly the Isle of Jura (the mountains are the Paps of Jura, I’ll let you figure out why they’re called that…) as seen from Islay
You should be able to take quite a few nice pictures, Islay is very beautiful and in good weather you’ll get fantastic views. If you get a chance try to get out on The Oa, the cliffs are quite photogenic on a sunny day. Or the various beaches, I’d say Lossit Bay is probably the best.
I guess I’ll have to watch your blog for the pictures you come back with. I’m off to Islay again in 5 weeks, hopefully to come back with a lot of great pictures as well.

Hey, who is your friend that knows all about Islay?
Simon, shocked you couldn’t find a nicer picture with white sandy beaches, clear blue seas and beautiful locals! Instead you have a dreich looking mossy background and a cold looking loch!
There are 3 paps so figure that one out - jokes about inbreds not allowed!

I looked every where for nice pictures, but couldn’t find one which was exactly what I was looking for - sorry if you don’t like it but I still think it’s nice!
What do you mean by paps? I’m not sure what that means! Or am I just being stupid?!!
