Best toilet sign ever?

December 27th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Weird

Is this the best, most honest toilet sign ever? (Sorry it’s all blurred by the way.) It was at a restaurant called Paesanos that we ate at last night. But what does the ladies’ toilet sign look like? Click on to find out (making it like a weird hidden surprise thing!)

Two things I will not be buying with my Christmas money

December 27th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Shopping, Weird

If you are a baby, you cannot choose whether or not you want to be religious, so why is there a Baby’s First Bible?!!!

This is some weird animatronic Elvis which is currently on sale at The Sharper Image for only $199.99! Who in their right mind would buy that. Apparently ‘State-of-the-art technologies animate Aliveā„¢ ElvisĀ® [...]

Weird Dallas Christmas displays

December 27th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Dallas, Weird

In the Highland Park area of where my family live in Dallas, people go a bit crazy for Christmas. To the extent that companies organise tours round the Christmas displays in peoples’ gardens. Here are the best ones I have seen this year….

I like this one. It is Santa selling tickets for a carousel with [...]

Merry Christmas y’all!

December 26th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Family, Travel

Merry Christmas everybody! I have come to Texas for Christmas to spend it with the family. For the last couple of days, including Christmas itself, we have been staying at a nice hotel in San Antonio which is about five hours drive from Dallas. It is a celebrity haunt as we have seen Thierry Henri [...]

Update on smallest car in the world

December 26th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Weird

Apparently the car in my smallest car in the world picture is not the smallest car in the world at all! Someone commented on my photo on Flickr, saying this is probably the smallest car in the world and I have to say I agree! Crazy shit or what?!!

Yotel - a video review!

December 18th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Travel

I am off to Dallas town for Christmas and New Year (although I’ll actually be spending Christmas in San Antonio). Anyway, I’m at Gatwick Airport tonight and am staying in the new Yotel - a Japanese style hotel (although not quite a capsule hotel) right in the airport terminal.
Because I am crazeee I have done [...]

Smallest car in the world?

December 18th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Weird

Outside the BBC on Monday I saw this car. And no, that picture is not squashed. What a ridiculous car. And whoever is driving it is a muppet. Not only is it very small (not necessarily a bad thing) but it is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen!

A mini trip to London

December 18th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Film / TV, Work

After the Christmas bash, I also made it to White’s on Saturday night - it was a brilliant night and the first time I’d been in ages. I also met a nice lady, so communications continue on that front.
On Monday, the BBC announced its new guidelines for competitions, telephony and voting, so it was off [...]

Christmas party fun

December 18th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Friends, Work

‘Twas the BBC Christmas party on Friday night! Basically it is held in a big studio, which they clear out, and then put tables, a band and most importantly - a bar in. I’m not sure if that’s gramatically correct there, so apologies if it isn’t. Anyway, I decided not to go until 9pm, as [...]

BBC iPlayer now Mac compatible

December 14th, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Film / TV

At last! The BBC iPlayer now works on Macs - so you can stream a lot of TV programmes from the last seven days online on your Mac.
Downloading on Macs isn’t available, but streaming is fine with me! You have to live in the UK to use this service.
