Weird Dallas Christmas displays

December 27th, 2007  |  Published in Dallas, Weird

In the Highland Park area of where my family live in Dallas, people go a bit crazy for Christmas. To the extent that companies organise tours round the Christmas displays in peoples’ gardens. Here are the best ones I have seen this year….

Highland Park carousel

I like this one. It is Santa selling tickets for a carousel with Christmassy people on it. What you can’t see in the picture is that the carousel actually goes round and round. There is no Jesus / Santa confusion going on, so overall this is probably my favourite.

Weird display WS

This is like a monster display - there is so much of it that I couldn’t actually get it all in one photo, so some of it is missing. There is actually a big chain of wooden reindeer round the other side of the garden. Now at first this all looks ok, because again there is no Santa / Jesus confusion going on, but if you look closely, you can see this….

Weird display

There are three things which are confusing about this.

  1. What has a bear got to do with Christmas. Is it some Christmassy character I am not aware of?
  2. The models are just weird. They are like 80s models, and the lady seems to be wiggling her hips.
  3. What is in the Gingerbread House?

So that gets my award for weirdest Christmas display. I am not saying it is bad, I’m just saying it is weird. All is forgiven if it is old people that have made the display.
