Mamma Mia

July 31st, 2008  |  Published in Film / TV  |  2 Comments

I went to see Mamma Mia! last night. I’d been wanting to go and see it for a while. Not because I’m an ABBA fan, but just because I thought it looked like a feel-good, summery movie.

In reality, I thought it was the weirdest film I’ve ever seen. I kept getting embarassed when people in the movie started to sing. It felt really unnatural whenever they burst into song. And I can’t work out why! It’s not like it feels weird in the Sound of Music or anything. I dunno, after the first three songs I kind of got into it, but by the end it was all wearing a bit thin to be honest.

The main character, Sophie is quite hot, but that wasn’t enough to redeem it really. If you’re a bloke and you’re going to see it, I would have at least two beers before going in!

What the hell were you thinking of boy, jeez you must have been at a loose end that night, maybe Gohir getting married has affected you more than anyone realized. This film always looked like a bag of shit, I think your review was a tad kind. I had the misfortune to watch Coyote Ugly last night which was teeth-gratingly tedious and no amount bar-top dancing in hotpants could possibly compensate for it.

Anyway – go and see Man on Wire when it comes out sometime soon, I haven’t seen it but I’ll be surprised if it’s anything other than inspirational.

    Over.

    Watson!

I felt my review was fair and honest – I did enjoy it in parts.

And I feel you were a tad unkind re Coyote Ugly. If I remember correctly, the lead actress in that production is hot, and I could put up with a very weak storyline given that she wears tight fitting clothes. Will go and check out Man on Wire!
