McD’s oriental bbq burger

August 22nd, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink, McDonald's

I have not had a very exciting time recently, as I’ve just been finishing editing Northern Exposure. This is probably reflected in the fact that the most interesting thing I have to write about is a new burger at McDonald’s.
It’s called the Oriental BBQ burger but mine wasn’t very oriental. Apparently I got the last [...]

I’m off to a Muslim wedding this weekend!

July 31st, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Belfast, Food and Drink, Friends

Yes that’s right! I can exclusively reveal on my blog (well it’s an online exclusive as no-one else I know has written about it) that my mate G is getting married! He is having a barat on Saturday in London Town (well Watford) which me and the Miss Jill Morgan are going to. I am [...]

A delicious breakfast (although a bit far away from Belfast)

July 13th, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink, Ham'n'Cheese

You know I love my breakfast food, and anything that is toasted that has ham and cheese in it.
Recently when we were out filming we stopped off at a place called “The Picnic Deli” in Killyleagh. They have an amazing choice of breakfast food. I tried the ham and cheese on French toast with dijon [...]

Chipotle-a-like lands in Belfast

June 29th, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Belfast, Food and Drink

Boojum is a fast-food Mexican place that’s opened on Botanic in Belfast (along with Oodles, a casual noodles place which also seems like the first in a possible chain).
Boojum is an absolute carbon copy of Chipotle in the US - but that’s not to knock it. I’ve been to Chipotle a couple of times when [...]

Health update

June 29th, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink, Life

So it’s been nearly nine months since I had an anaphylactic shock after eating lunch out one day. In May I finally got called back to the hospital to see the allergy consultant give me my test results back. Seeing as I’d had tuna the day it happened, I had presumed it was that which [...]

How to make flavoured vodka

March 3rd, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink

Hmmm. I would have maybe tried making flavoured vodka if I could handle more than a sip of vodka without:

break-dancing
tipsy texting every girl who has their number in my phone
falling over

Egg and muffin toaster put to the test

February 26th, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink, Technology

Well I had a nice surprise last week when I received a parcel at work - my Mum and Dad had gone out and bought me the Tefal toast and egg toaster! It makes poached eggs, warms your meat, and toasts your muffin, bagel or whatever at the same time! This may not sound like a [...]

Egg and Muffin toaster finally here!

February 14th, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink, Shopping

After two and half years, the Egg and Muffin Toaster (of my dreams) has finally made it to the UK, as the Tefal Toast n Egg. That is the good news. The only bad news for me is that it is only available in Comet, who don’t deliver to Northern Ireland. Could that be any [...]

Cheeseburger in a can!

February 2nd, 2008  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink

Check it! It’s a cheeseburger in a can! Not for sale in the UK yet as far as I know, but imagine being able to come home drunk, get the can opener out and tuck into this bad boy! A perfect combination of convenience and meat. I love it!
