Ok I’m a bit behind with this, but basically if you are in the habit of sending drunk e-mails that you later regret, and are a Gmail user, fear no more, with the introduction of Mail Goggles from Google.

It asks you to perform some sums before you can send your e-mail, hence avoiding the crushing feeling I’m all too familiar with after waking up the next morning after a night out.

Now I’m not in the habit of sending drunken e-mails, but if I could find something like this to avoid tipsy texting and facebook messaging, I reckon I’d have found nirvana (or something like that anyway.)

Google today launched Lively which is a like a Second Life type world where you can create your own avatars, rooms and chat with your friends. Details of how to actually get started with it seem pretty skimpy at the moment, but one cool feature is that you can apparently watch Youtube videos in a virtual room with your friends.

I never got into the Second Life thing, but what’s different about Lively is that once you download the software on to your PC (PC only at the moment Grrrrr) you can access your room from Facebook, your site, and other places on the web. Which seems like quite a good idea. Maybe when it’s a Mac download I’ll give it a shot.

Until we see some BBC and Channel 4 programmes on there, I don’t think this will really go mainstream, although some big shows like Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy are on there now. The question is will that ever happen? Broadcasters here are already working on their own commercial venture for programming which is more than seven days past its transmission date.

Well Meebo might be the solution for you – it’s an online version of most popular instant messenger programs.
In what I think is a pretty interesting link, Apple and Nike today announced that they’re lanching a new ‘sports kit‘ for the iPod nano. Basically, it means putting a little sensor in your Nike+ shoe which then talks to a receiver attached to your iPod nano. The sensor then transmits data about your run (and audible feedback too) which is then displayed on your iPod nano. Cleverly, this information is then synced via iTunes when you connect your nano to your computer, and then data on your run is available on a special website.

It may not have massive appeal, but I think this is a clever use of an iPod which you can bet no other MP3 player manufacturer has thought about. I don’t run for exercise (I usually only run when it’s raining, to avoid getting wet), but being able to keep track of your performance so easily sounds like a great idea.

I was thinking it would be great if they could do something similar for swimmers, but then probably not – I like my swimming without any music or anything, so I can completely relax while I’m doing it.

The Nike+iPod sports kit is expected to be in stores by the end of July, whilst a new iTunes update (version 6.0.5) will also be available soon.

Well I get a lot of my clothes from Hollister – a clothes shop in the US owned by the same people as Abercombie. They do a cool loyalty programme called Club Cali, which is pretty generous (giving you money off etc.), and if you spend over $500 with them, you become a gold card member, with a personalised card. Now, that’s all – no other benefits (as far as I’m aware), but it’s different from most people’s cards.

I passed the $500 threshold probably about a year ago, but they still haven’t sent me my gold card. It’s just kind of niggling away at me! I’ve called their helpline, and annoyingly, they can’t ask for another card to be sent out. You have to get a new card, transfer your points from the old one, and hopefully it’ll trigger sending you out a new gold card if you’re due one. Well I’ve done that, and still no gold card, but I did call them today and they said they would check it out and try and send me a new card.

I know deep down it’s a bit silly, but I just want to see what a gold card looks like anyway! I’ve spent the money, so it’s the least they could do!

BTW, Hollister ship internationally (although you have to be wary of the tax and duty you might get charged), so check em out.
