UK Abercrombie store and site now open

March 23rd, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Clothes, Fashion, Shopping

Well my invite must have got lost in the post, but yesterday Abercrombie opened their first UK store - in Saville Row in London. I’ll need to check it out next time I’m over.
They’ve also opened a UK specific website - here, and pricing (which seems quite steep compared to US prices) now include import [...]

I’m on holiday!

January 22nd, 2007  |  by Simon  |  published in Shopping, Travel

Well after our flight being delayed because of 90mph winds and then having to be diverted over Scotland (not exactly en route!) I am in Dallas this week. The weather isn’t really great here either. Since getting here though, I have learnt three things…..

1. Here you can buy things that cut your hair while you [...]

I want one of these!

December 16th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Shopping, Technology

It’s a toothbrush that plays tunes inside your head! It reminds me of the lollipops you could get a while ago in the states that played music in your head that no-one else could hear (which a lot of people don’t believe ever existed, but they did). The selection of music you can get with [...]

Shaving and the razor rip-off!

December 12th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Shopping

I HATE shaving. Horrible, so I try not to do it too often. But I’m not growing a beard.
One thing that really annoys me about shaving too (apart from the fact it’s boring) is Gillette - I don’t know why, but I don’t like them as a company. They keep introducing new razor blades with [...]

Good mens’ clothes shop coming to Belfast shock!

December 8th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Belfast, Clothes, Shopping

The good news: Urban Outfitters is coming to Belfast.
The bad news: In March 2008.

Starbucks cards in the UK

October 30th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Food and Drink, Shopping

I’ve got a Starbucks card for when I’m out in Dallas, and I like it! It’s basically a pre-paid card which you top up in Starbucks stores and then use like a debit card when you’re paying for your Mocha or Frappuccino.
Rumour has it that they will be launching them in the UK very soon. [...]

Number one detective

August 8th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Film / TV, Shopping

Photo: www.drberlin.com
Well maybe after Columbo, but I was browsing around on Play.com the other day and found a Charlie Chan DVD box set for only £9.99! Bargain, so ordered. Charlie Chan films used to be on all the time when I was wee, and I can remember really liking them, but I haven’t seen one [...]

Abercrombie coming to UK Spring 2007

May 16th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Clothes, Shopping

I don’t know whether it’s a good thing, or a bad thing, but in an annual report published today on Abercrombie’s corporate website, the company Chairman announced that London will open an Abercrombie flagship store in Spring 2007.
Time I find someplace else to buy clothes when I’m in Dallas that no-one else will have over [...]

How to sell stuff on Amazon

May 16th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Shopping, Web/Tech

I’ve made about £150 selling stuff on Amazon.co.uk over the last six weeks or so - and the thing is it’s really, really, easy. I’ve had a lot of people ask me how you go about doing it, so I thought I’d write a bit of a guide to it. Read more after the jump.

Britain’s Abercombie?

April 24th, 2006  |  by Simon  |  published in Clothes, Shopping

I buy a lot of clothes from Abercrombie and Hollister when I’m in the US, and Abercombie is on its way to the UK soon, but until then, us Brits have Jack Wills - it’s probably the closest thing we have to Abercrombie, with a bit of a British twist (rugby shirts and the like). [...]
